Municipal Public Library in Piotrków Trybunalski

Municipal Public Library in Piotrków Trybunalski is being called Mediateka and is placed at the former Franciscan square. The project design of the building created an architectural studio from Warsaw Budapol. The library will look like an open book. The most attractive part of the building will be facing the old town. In addition to a library, the Mediateka shall provide other functions including social, cultural, scientific, similarly as the Copernicus Science Centre.

The scope of the contract encompasses the construction of the three-storey building. On the ground floor will be grouped administration rooms and offices. The public library will be extended from ground floor to the first floor. There will be also some space of the upper storey dedicated to interactive exhibitions and workshops in service of the science. The building will contain an auditorium, antiquarian bookstore and library café with an outdoor garden overlooking a castle. In the auditorium can be organized small artistic events such as concerts, film screenings, conferences, meetings and premiere events. Parking places for 50 cars and 5 cycles, technical facilities and book depository will be situated on the underground floor. Some rooms such as lending library, multimedia laboratories, bindery will be protected against noise.
