Sports and entertainment hall TAURON ARENA in Krakow

A consortium headed by Mostostal Warszawa has completed the construction of a sports and entertainment hall in Czyżyny in Krakow. This is one of Krakow’s strategic investments, the most modern and the largest sports and entertainment hall in Poland and one of the largest in Europe.

The Krakow hall received a utility permit on 12.05.2014 (it became legally valid on 27.05.2014) after three years of construction.

Mostostal’s work, apart from construction of the main hall and the training hall, encompassed: external multi-storey garage, accompanying facilities (transformer stations, ventilation rooms) and area management: access roads, parking sites and square. The hall built on Aleja Pokoju and Stanisława Lema Street in Krakow is a modern sports and entertainment facility that meets all international standards. Additionally, the adopted functional programme ensures great flexibility of the facility – it is possibile to maintain an ice rink for 10 months in the year without the necessity of resigning from other events or sports competitions.
The design of the complex received over 14 positive opinions from sporting associations, which means that it is possibile to organise competitions in at least 18 sports disciplines, including athletics, hockey, tennis, figure skating and martial arts.

Apart from strictly sports events, the facility is suitable for the organisation of all types of mass events: concerts, conventions, congresses and other exhibition/fair-type events. The seating area (fixed and movable) can accommodate approx. 15,000 spectators. During concerts, when the stage is set on the lower arena, up to 18,000 people can fit in the hall.

There are also 27 skyboxes – i.e. places leased by companies for various business events, along with a restaurant and biological regeneration facilities.
Just a few days after receiving the utility permit for the facility, the first official event, Pixar in Concert, took place, organised specially for Children’s Day. Approx. 10,000 children had the opportunity to see their favourite cartoons on a huge screen and listen to music played by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra.

The most spectacular sports inauguration of the facility took place on 20.06.2014 when Polish volleyball players conquered the Brazilian national team in the World League 3:1!
