Koszalin ring-road

The second section of the Koszalin ring-road is ready for drivers. Mostostal Warszawa completed the contract over one month ahead of schedule.

Mostostal Warszawa S.A. designed, built and rebuilt roads that constitute the external ring of the city’s transport layout – from Słowiańska Street, through the crossing with Lechicka Street to the crossing of Szczecińska and Syrenki Streets.

Implementation of the contract commissioned by the Municipal Road Management Authority in Koszalin was scheduled for 32 months. However, the project was completed ahead of schedule. Mostostal handed over the ring-road to the investor on 19 January. The end of the contract was stipulated in the documents for 23 February.

The design documentation was prepared in the course of eight months; the remaining twenty months were taken up by performing the work. The work was divided into two stages. Stage I encompassed the construction of a new section of road, along with the modernisation and reconstruction of railway infrastructure. Stage II consisted of the rebuilding of the existing road section and its adjustment to municipal standards.

“The total length of the built section is approx. 2.4 km, including approx. 1 km of rebuilding of Słowiańska Street; the remaining 1.4 km was the construction of a new section of road.”

The Koszalin ring-road, known as the city’s External Ring, is intended to connect two roads, National Road No. 6 from Szczecin with National Road No. 11 to Poznan and to exclude transit traffic from the city centre. On account of the proximity of summer resorts, Koszalin has always suffered from traffic jams in the summer period. Thanks to the new ring-road, the residents will easily be able to avoid them.
