S61 Ełk Południe-Wysokie construction at full speed
See what progress has been made on the construction of the S61 Ełk Południe-Wysokie expressway.
We presented our previous construction video report in October 2021 (click to view). Since then, we have already completed the base substructure for the concrete pavement on the entire section of the S61 falling to Mostostal Warszawa.
We are currently constructing the concrete pavement, which we plan to complete by the end of August. All load-bearing structures, backfilling of bridge objects and retention reservoirs have also been completed. In the nearest future, we will focus on preparations for the execution of poured asphalt layers, concrete and bituminous pavements, finishing works on bridge facilities and humus removal.
The contract for the design and construction of the S61 on the approx. 23-kilometre Ełk Południe-Wysokie section was concluded on 19 July 2018 with the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, as well as consortium members Trakcja PRKiI and PEUiM Białystok. The road under construction is a fragment of the largest road investments in Europe: Via Carpatia and Via Baltica.
Within the scope of the task, over 19 km of the S61 road will be built on the section Ełk Południe node - Wysokie node and a 3.425 km section of the S16 road. The scope of the contract includes the execution of all works necessary for the proper functioning of the expressway. Apart from the construction of sections of the S61 and S16, the works will include, among others, the reconstruction of existing roads, construction of engineering structures, infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, connections, road traffic safety devices and emergency crossings. In addition, drainage, a telecommunications network, lighting and environmental protection devices will be installed. Click here to read more about the investment.
