ZUS supports the ideas of the Association for Safety in the Construction Industry

21 October 2014

On October 20, 2014, ZUS (the Social Insurance Institution) signed a commencement letter with the Association for Safety in the Construction Industry that initiated cooperation between ZUS and the association beneficiaries in improving safety among small and medium-size companies – the subcontractors of large construction companies.

ZUS was represented by its president, Zbigniew Derdziuk and the Association for Safety in the Construction Industry by Dariusz Blocher, CEO at Budimex and current chairman of the association.

The ideas and activities of the Association for Safety in the Construction Industry are in line with the activities carried out by ZUS within the field of incident prevention. The agreement will support ZUS in identifying the needs of small and medium-size companies to improve the level of work safety and to communicate to companies the Programme for Financing Activities Aimed at Maintaining Work Ability for the Entire Period of Labour Market Participation and Payers' Premiums.
The Association for Safety in the Construction Industry counts on the support of ZUS in creating safe work procedures within the construction sector, which features the highest rate of accidents. The association is also in the midst of preparing training programs dedicated to individual groups of employees within the sector.

The Association for Safety in the Construction Industry is an initiative of eight general contractors, referred to as the association signatories, with the aim of improving the level of safety across Polish construction sites. It envisages the completion of a large number of projects introducing OHS system solutions, i.e. uniform document templates, job qualification confirmation models for construction workers and periodic training. The association promotes safety culture, raises awareness of construction site job-related risks and, consequently, eliminates risks.
