We signed the foundation act for the new AGH building

ON 24 June this year there was a solemn signing of the foundation act for the new building of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. The General Contractor of the investment is Mostostal Warszawa.

- This is the next innovative investment that will help in the research needed both by the university and the Polish economy - said prof. Tadeusz Słomka, Rector of the University of Mining and Metallurgy.

About investment

The building under construction will be used by the Oil and Gas Drilling Department (WWNiG) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering (WEAIiIB) of the AGH University of Science and Technology. The building was designed as a building with five aboveground and one underground storeys, on the projection of an elongated rectangle. At the cellar level, laboratories associated only with the WWNiG faculty were located, the upper storey will be divided between the departments of WWNiG and WEAIiIB and will house laboratory rooms as well as teaching rooms and rooms for work. Also rebuilt will be pavements around the building, existing parking and external stairs leading to the terrace of the academic canteen.

Research and Development in Mostostal Warszawa

- Mostostal Warszawa has been closely cooperating with scientific communities for years. We were the first company in Polish construction, which identified in its structures the Research and Development Department. Today we see effects: patents, among others for a bridge made of composites, as well as further technologically advanced objects, implemented, among others for the AGH University of Science and Technology - said Jacek Szymanek, Member of the Board of Mostostal Warszawa.

The ceremony was attended by, among others Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education, prof. dr hab. Eng. Tadeusz Słomka; Rector of AGH University of Science and Technology, prof. dr hab. Eng. Rafał Wiśniowski, Dean of the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas, prof. dr hab. Eng. Ryszard Sroka, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering, as well as representatives of Mostostal Warszawa: Jacek Szymanek, Member of the Board, Artur Sikora, Director of Contracts Group, Mariusz Rudnik, Contract Manager and Paweł Kwiecień, Spokesperson.

- Creating a prosperous society, a modern efficient state, or a dynamically developing economy will be possible only on one condition - on condition of a significant increase in investment in science and higher education - said Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Higher Education.
