For certain, Szymany Airport is one of the most beautiful airports in Poland, picturesquely located in the forest land of thousands of lakes. Mostostal Warszawa was responsible not only for the construction of the passenger terminal but also for the technical infrastructure, construction of access road and passages, elements of small architecture and greenery. The project was completed on time in almost a year. On Monday (18th January) it has been granted certificate of Civil Aviation Authority for aviation activities. It means that the airport can operate passenger flights.

During inauguration Kuyavian-Pomeranian Phillharmonic Orchestra in Olsztyn under direction of Piotr Sułkowski gave performance. The guests could see first landing of a plane on the airfield and see closely the terminal. The glass panes of the building remind smooth surface of masurian lakes. In construction was used oak plank, typical for the region. Building’s architecture refers also to the flying cranes. Szymany Airport can be admired not only by its appearance. It is a modern airport, built in accordance to the european standards which will boost economy, create new jobs and will contribute to the development of the region.         

- Airport in Szymany is, after Modlin Airport, another similar project in Mostostal Warszawa’s portfolio. Soon, the airport will accomodate 300 000 passengers per year and if needed, after extension, even half a milliion people. This modern building perfectly has feeted into the local climate what evidence crafted architectural references to regional culture. The airport will improve opportunities for development, especially in the turistics. For sure, passengers will be pleased. Passenger terminal in Szymany Airport, refined in every inch, full of masurian details and regional references got us a prestigious award. For the construction of the passenger terminal Polskie Towarzystwo Mieszkaniowe Lublin awarded us with Cristal Brick in category „administration and office buildings”.
