Mostostal Warszawa’s Decarbonization Initiative Recognized as One of the Best COP30-Related Projects

14 November 2025

The distinguished project includes a series of activities carried out between 2023 and 2025 at the Mostostal Warszawa Equipment and Transport Base in Urzut, aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions and increasing the energy efficiency of the facility. The initiative was co-financed by the Acciona Decarbonisation Fund, which supports energy transition efforts within the Acciona Group.

The project included the following stages:

  • 2023 – construction of a photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 49.99 kWp,
  • 2024 – expansion of the photovoltaic installation from 49.99 to 149.48 kWp and purchase of two mobile PV units, each with a capacity of 14.94 kWp,
  • 2025 – implementation of an energy storage system with a capacity of 140 kWh.

“The project was selected as one of the best COP30-related initiatives because it exemplifies how to achieve goals related to efficiency and safety while offering the possibility of being replicated at any scale by construction companies worldwide. Thanks to our concept and the support of the Acciona fund, we have become a benchmark at COP30—an exceptional recognition that we can proudly present as one of the few construction companies globally,” said Jorge Calabuig Ferre, President of the Management Board of Mostostal Warszawa.

“By implementing decarbonization projects at our Equipment and Transport Base in Urzut, we not only achieved emissions and cost reduction goals but also strengthened the safety of our processes. The projects were planned and executed amid the risks posed by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, and an important objective was to increase independence from electricity prices and sources,” said Jacek Szymanek, Member of the Management Board of Mostostal Warszawa.

“We will continue our efforts toward decarbonization and improving the efficiency of the Urzut Base. Our aim is for the facility to become completely independent from external energy sources, relying solely on zero-emission technologies. Even today, we can see that the actions we are taking are unique, innovative, and pioneering, which is confirmed by the recognition as one of the best COP30-related projects,” said Marcin Kondraszuk, Member of the Management Board of Mostostal Warszawa.

The WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) is a global organization uniting over 250 of the world’s largest companies, working together toward sustainable development and transforming the economy toward net-zero emissions, environmental protection, and responsible business practices. The organization collaborates with UN agencies, the European Commission, and international financial institutions, acting as a bridge between the business community and global climate policy.

COP30 (Conference of the Parties) is the thirtieth United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC), which will take place in 2025 in Belém, Brazil. It is one of the most important global events dedicated to combating climate change, bringing together leaders from governments, business, science, and civil society.

The recognition of Mostostal Warszawa’s initiative by WBCSD is a significant distinction for our company and a confirmation that our efforts in decarbonization, energy efficiency, and sustainable construction are being noticed and appreciated internationally.

It is also proof that Polish engineering and the infrastructure sector can be active participants in the global climate transformation, delivering concrete projects that bring real environmental benefits.
