Mostostal Warszawa will build an ecological PKP Intercity wash

30 September 2020

On September 30 Mostostal Warszawa and PKP Intercity signed a contract for the design and construction of an automatic wash in Wrocław. The contract value exceeds PLN 34.18 million gross.

The automatic wash will be a year-round facility used for external washing of trains. It will be equipped with a sewage treatment plant with a closed circuit of technological water, allowing for multiple use of washing water. The washing hall will be approx. 200 meters long and will be equipped with self-propelled portals with brushes and nozzles along the track line. Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of the technical room of the wash to produce electricity for the building's own needs. The hall will be equipped with a rainwater collection system and a stand to protect the rolling stock against icing.

- The wash that we will build in Wrocław for PKP Intercity is another task carried out by Mostostal Warszawa in the area of infrastructure investments related to railways. We are a good partner for the Polish railways, as evidenced by our efficiently implemented projects, incl. successful modernization of the Kraków Główny PKP railway station, or the general renovation of Gdańsk Główny railway station - says Jorge Calabuig Ferre, Vice President of the Management Board of Mostostal Warszawa.

- Thanks to the use of many ecological solutions, the railway fits perfectly into the concept of sustainable development. The contract for the construction of an automatic wash in Wrocław is one of the many elements of our long-term investment program, which includes, among others, modernization of technical facilities in the spirit of pro-ecological solutions. Such investments confirm that the railway is the green transport of the future - says Adam Laskowski, member of the PKP Intercity board.
