Mostostal Warszawa S.A. completes construction of the new rectorate of Poznan University of Technology

28 November 2025

Mostostal Warszawa S.A. has successfully completed one of the key academic facilities in Poznań – the new Rectorate of the Poznan University of Technology. The five-storey building, with a usable area of over 5,900 m², will become the central administrative hub of the University and an important element of the developing “Warta” Campus.

- I congratulate the entire Construction Team, whose expertise and commitment were crucial to the success of this project. This investment reflects our values: care for the environment, innovation, and top technical quality - said Jorge Calabuig Ferre, President of the Management Board of Mostostal Warszawa S.A. - We continue to strengthen our presence in Greater Poland and Poznań itself, where in recent years we have delivered a number of important projects for the region.

A modern and representative facility

The new rectorate is a modern and representative building that combines innovative technologies, high energy efficiency, and elegant, timeless architecture. The investment aligns with Mostostal Warszawa’s development direction, consistently delivering environmentally friendly projects and expanding its competencies in advanced, responsible construction.

Advanced technologies and ecology at the heart of the project

The Rectorate was designed as a highly energy-efficient facility. The building features an extensive range of ecological solutions, including:

  • geothermal boreholes serving as a sustainable heat and cooling source,
  • heat pumps supporting low-emission and cost-effective energy management,
  • advanced thermal insulation reducing heat loss,
  • a heat recovery ventilation system,
  • an installation of 219 photovoltaic panels with a total capacity of approx. 97 kWp,
  • energy consumption monitoring and control systems supporting operational optimization.

The integration of these technologies significantly reduces the demand for external energy, strengthening the ecological character of the investment and aligning it with sustainable development goals.

Digitalization of the construction process – advanced BIM implementation

The construction of the rectorate was one of the most advanced openBIM implementations in Poland. The project was carried out in a “design and build” formula, using:

  • open data standards, including IFC for inter-disciplinary coordination,
  • communication in BCF format,
  • a Common Data Environment (CDE) based on the Dalux platform,
  • multi-disciplinary 3D models used for design verification, change management, and progress monitoring.

BIM technology will continue to be used after construction – during acceptance testing, the warranty period, and within the facility management system currently being developed.

Close cooperation with the academic community

The investment was closely connected with the academic environment. During construction:

  • more than 20 educational visits were organized for vocational school students, university students, and faculty,
  • representatives of Mostostal Warszawa took part in the OpenBIM Poland 2025 and Dalux User Day 2025 conferences,
  • hands-on workshops on the Dalux CDE platform were conducted for students of the Poznan University of Technology.

The project became a space for knowledge exchange between academia and business, strengthening the skills of future engineers.

Long-term cooperation with Poznan University of Technology

The new rectorate is another milestone in the long-standing collaboration between Mostostal Warszawa S.A. and Poznan University of Technology. In previous years, the company delivered, among others, the Faculty of Architecture building and the Faculty of Engineering Management building. These projects contribute to the development of the campus and the enhancement of the infrastructure of one of Poland’s leading technical universities.
