Mostostal Warszawa S.A. completes a key stage of the Cargo terminal redevelopment at Kraków Airport

15 April 2026

Works related to the conversion of the former Cargo terminal into temporary pre-departure waiting areas, the Pre-Boarding Zone Non-Schengen,  have been finalized. The efficient execution of the project enabled the facility to obtain its occupancy permit ahead of schedule. The project aims to increase the capacity of Kraków Airport.

- Delivering this project was a major organizational and technological challenge, particularly due to the need to carry out works within an operating airport. Thanks to the commitment of the entire team and close cooperation with the investor, we were able to complete the project not only in line with the highest quality standards, but also ahead of schedule - said Artur Sikora, Contract Group Director at Mostostal Warszawa.

Scope of works included:

  • partial demolition of the existing structure,
  • reorganization and redesign of interiors to suit new operational functions,
  • construction of a first-floor connector integrating the redeveloped facility with the passenger terminal,
  • construction of two new staircases providing access between floors and ground level,
  • comprehensive refurbishment and adaptation of internal installations,
  • development of the immediate surroundings to ensure safe and comfortable passenger handling.

A key project

The project forms part of a broader expansion program at Kraków Airport, which - in response to record passenger growth - is undertaking intensive measures to increase its capacity.

An important interim solution was the transformation of the former cargo terminal into a passenger facility. The investment will enable efficient handling of the growing number of travelers until the new section of the main terminal (T6), planned for the coming years, is completed.

The redeveloped building will serve as a temporary passenger terminal in the Non-Schengen zone, representing an important transitional stage in the airport’s infrastructure development. Ultimately, Kraków Airport plans modular expansion, including the construction of a new baggage claim hall and the extension of the terminal on the western side.

The completion of the entire investment program is scheduled for 2031, with the goal of enabling the airport to handle up to 19 million passengers annually while maintaining a high level of travel comfort.

Continuation of cooperation with Kraków Airport

Mostostal Warszawa has been cooperating with Kraków Airport for years, successfully delivering numerous infrastructure projects.

One of the key undertakings was the Cargo Terminal at Kraków Airport, completed in May 2025. The investment, worth PLN 99.9 million (gross), included a facility with an area of 5,600 m² and an annual capacity of 8,000 tonnes, significantly increasing the airport’s cargo handling capabilities.

Further projects are currently underway, including the construction of a Central Waste Collection Facility at the airport (contract signed in June 2025).

The long-standing presence of Mostostal Warszawa S.A. at Kraków Airport and the consistent delivery of successive investments confirm the company’s strong expertise in executing projects at a fully operational airport.
