Congress of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways is one of those events that cannot be ignored. It is a must for experts in the sector, general contractors, scientists, companies binding their future activities with infrastructure market. It is a perfect opportunity to meet and talk with the representatives of the central authority administrating road system in Poland – General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways and Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, that is key public authorities that have an impact on the development of road infrastructure in the country. At the invitation of GDDKiA, the congress attended President Andrzej Goławski, Jorge Calabuig Ferre, Member of the Board for Business Development and Sławomir Barczak, Director of Infrastructure Division.  

– Road sector is preparing for the next financial perspective for the years 2021-2027. In July the government introduced changes to the National Road Construction Programme, by extending the list of projects. New tasks were incorporated into the programme such as the construction of new sections of S19 which constitutes an essential part of international route Via Carpatia. The spending limit for investments was also extended from PLN 107 to 135 billion. Perspectives are promising. As one of the leading construction companies in Poland we want to have a crucial impact on the market and actively participate in its evolution – said Andrzej Goławski, President of the Management Board at Mostostal Warszawa.

Undoubtedly, the programme and list of the guests are the strong suits of the congress. The topics of the first edition of this event covers, e.g. road surface affected by climate change, an influence of different factors on road safety, challenges related to the comprehensive management of road system and finally ecological and economic aspects. In the debate actively participate attendees from Ministry of Infrastructure and Construction, GDDKiA, Road and Bridge Research Institute, Transport Consultants Group TOR, Polish Asphalt Pavement Association, Road and Airport Institute, Motor Transport Institute and Traffic Department of the Central Police Headquarters, and universities: AGH University of Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, Kraków University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Wrocław University of Technology, Rzeszów University of Technology, Białystok University of Technology and producers, and companies designing solutions for infrastructure sector.

The crowning moment of the congress will be celebrations of the 70^th anniversary of the Road Laboratories of the GDDKiA and the evening gala. The initiative provides a golden opportunity for exchange of knowledge and experience among professionals but also encourages construction circles to integrate.
