The project involves design and construction of a 9.5 km dual lane highway, a 1.4 km bridge and a 1 km local road between the dual carriageway and Lyngerupvej. The construction will be performed in the area of Roskilde Fjord including in the protected nature areas of the EU’s Natura 2000 network. It is a challenging project, especially considering the archaeological and geological conditions.

Western Division, Industry and Environment Protection headed by Marzena Witkowska will supply precast segments that will be applied in the construction of the new bridge (see the picture). In total, 492 segments weighing nearly 100 tonnes will be delivered. Highly advanced formwork will be used in the process of prefabrication. In addition, the shipment is going to be transported by sea. The value of the contract amounts to approximately EUR 12 million (more than PLN 50 million net).

– The project is challenging considering the technology that we are going to use, quality of concrete and organisation of work. We cannot disregard the significance of the transporting so heavy load – stated Zbigniew Przybyłowicz, Commercial Director/Western Division, Industry and Environment Protection.

New link will reduce traffic congestion in the town Frederikssund, performing an additional function of bypass for the southern part of the city. It will also provide an alternative route to the only bridge that currently crosses the fjord. General contractor of the project is consortium RBAI featuring JV I/S Rizzani de Eccher S. p. A., NV Besix SA and Acciona Infraestructuras SA.
