Conference on construction industry innovations as part of the Build-Nova project

05 December 2006

On December 5, the R[&]D Department of Mostostal Warszawa and ASM Market Research and Analysis Centre held a conference on funding construction innovations under the Build-Nova project. The following institutions were invited to cooperate: Polish Technological Construction Platform (Polska Platforma Technologiczna Budownictwa), Industry Contact Point (Branżowy Punkt Kontaktowy), and National Contact Point (Krajowy Punkt Kontaktowy)

The meeting was aimed at supporting construction companies and technological units in finding the most suitable and available sources of innovation funding. It began with a presentation of the Build-Nova project, in which Mostostal also participates. By participating in this project, the company is not only seeking funds for unique construction solutions, but also aims to encourage financial investors to take part in this kind of operation with specific emphasis placed on the market and technological potential.

Agnieszka Giluń from the R[&]D Department at Mostostal Warszawa presented examples of innovative projects completed by Acciona Infraestructuras – Mostostal’s Spanish partner. The projects are financed mainly from European and national funds. The presentation spurred a heated discussion among conference participants, related mainly to the issues faced by the Polish construction market, procedures that often postpone the issuance of funds applied for by construction companies and the option to apply Acciona's experience in Poland.

The lecture was summed up by Zbigniew Turek from the National Contact Point, who emphasised that Acciona's commitment shows best the benefits of investing in new, innovative projects not only to strengthen the company's market position, but also to make it possible to implement much more effective environmentally friendly solutions. He also pointed out that Polish businesses must learn to create suitable business plans to allow national and European funds to be obtained.
