Student house BABILON in Cracow

The investor was University of Science and Technology in Cracow and the author of the project – company ArtBud from Sosnowiec represented by Bartłomiej and Wojciech Rados. On behalf of Mostostal Warszawa the constuction was performed by contract manager Mr Artur Sikora and cite manager Mr Mariusz Rudnik. The contract was realized from 15 November 2014 to 7 September 2015 when the final report was signed.

The resident house Babilon is located in the AGH campus. It is a detached 17-storey building of mixed construction with basement. The existing ceilings were manufactured as prefabicated ribbed tile pans linked with panels to form a monolith supported by steel columns. The building is 36,6 m long, 20,5 m wide and 49,4 m heigh. The usable area is 9 462 m2 and cubic volume 37 484 m3.

The renovation covered the whole interior remodeling with changing all the inventory, window and door carpentry, strenghtening the elevation and insulation, changing roof slope and new mechanical ventilation system, water system, sanitary and rainwater sewage system, central heating with electrical and teletechnical cable systems. The reconstruction did not affect the superstructure of the building, that is columns, ceilings with ribbs nor roofing tiles.

The building is a student house with multifuncional ground floor, basement with technical rooms and houses typical 15 floors with flats. On each floor there is 12 housing units. Every flat consists of 2 double rooms, kitchenette and bathroom. There is 48 beds on every floor and 720 in total in the building. The ground floor holds student club, consumption hall with professional food service and administration-office surface.
